Faith Formation Commission News

Diocesan guidelines ask all parishes to have a Faith Formation Commission which is responsible for the overall faith formation of the parish. We recognize that in the near future there will only be three priests to serve the five parishes of Sacred Heart (Manly), Holy Family (Mason City), St. Joseph's (Mason City), St. Patrick's (Clear Lake) and Sacred Heart (Rockwell). As a result we are having one collective Faith Formation Commission (FFC) for all five parishes. The FFC will provide feedback, planning, and development to all areas of faith formation in these parishes. We hope to have a collective approach to utilizing the gifts and talents of all for the sake of all, while at the same time standardizing the ways in which each parish approaches their faith formation (with each parish able to maintain their own identity and customs). At the first meeting an elected interim leadership consisting of: Chair Person: Maureen Utter, Vice Chair: Eve Zimmerman, Secretary: Shari Rottinghaus. Our first initiative is to identify the areas of faith formation (i.e. youth, young adult, marginalized, adult, etc.) and to compile a list of offerings that currently exist and to identify areas for growth. We ask for your support in this process. Below please find a list of the commission members and please enter into dialogue with your parish's member. Sacred Heart Manly - Deb Nagle, St. Joseph Mason City - Shari Rottinghaus, St. Patrick Clear Lake - Maureen Utter, Holy Family Mason City - Eve Zimmerman, Sacred Heart Rockwell - Mary Shupe, Priest Representatives: Fr. Craig Steimel, Fr. Rod Allers Meetings will be the first Thursday of every month.
